A few of this week's waders in Cornwall. 3rd Sept. 2019.

Buff breasted Sandpiper

The Buff breasted Sandpiper was at Davidstow this afternoon and when most of the birders had departed it decided to take a wash and brush up. This was the time for photos when it had other things on it's mind.

Another from Davidstow was this juvenile Ringed Plover.

Finally a few Turnstones in variable plumages from Trebetherick Point last evening on the high tide.

Buff-breasted Sandpiper at Davidstow 18th Sept 2017.

This North American wader dropped in to Davidstow airfield along with a flock of Dunlin.

This site is a regular for this species which seems to get whipped across the North Atlantic regularly each year.

Very noticeable how the colours change with the different light temperature, the first ones were in good evening sunlight but the last one was later when the sun had gone!

Buff breasted Sandpiper

Davidstow airfield came up trumps again with an almost annual North American vagrant with this Buff breasted Sandpiper.

It took a bit of tracking down but out of pure luck it pitched up on the old runway near the tower with some dunlin and ringed plovers where they all preened and dozed.
